Subject: Houston Ship Channel remains closed

Houston Ship Channel remains closed at this time. expect channel to reopen late morning / early afternoon and close again late this evening. Expect dense fog throughout the weekend . Rvtg with updates

February 15, 2018 - Thursday

1730 HSC closed to all traffic acct dense fog

Present HSC Vessel Traffic

53 Vessels waiting to proceed inbound
21 Vessels waiting to proceed outbound

Periods of areas of locally dense sea fog will persist through the weekend. A weak cold front is forecast to stall near the coast late tonight into early Saturday and this will maintain generally light onshore winds. Strengthening onshore winds and building seas can be expected early next week as western Texas pressure lowers ahead of the next developing cold front. This front is timed to come through Wednesday. This frontal passage will end the short term fog threat and increase shower and thunderstorm chances.
